The Vancouver Canucks are in Tampa Bay tonight and coach Alain Vigneault has stumbled onto a miraculous plan: put Naslund back together with the Sedins.
“They’ve always been a good line, but we were just trying to spread our wealth a bit and we’ve got to be fair with Markus in that sense. He was trying to develop younger players and push them along, but he also needs to play with good players.”
Well, no kidding. I mean, whether you like Nazzy or not, you might as well make use of a guy taking up $6 million of space on your roster.
But about that ‘spreading the wealth’ remark on the subject of the Canucks’ scoring prowess… well, that’s just funny. Kudos to the Vancouver coach for having a sense of humor.
Update 2:55pm PT: Canucks won’t make injury excuses.
Fine. I will…

P.S. I should mention that my earlier concussion is progressing nicely, and I now have a whole new appreciation and respect for the pharmacology industry.
While I’m all for Vigneault’s faith that injured guys should ‘play through the pain’ (so to speak), I’ve personally discovered that a medically-supervised combination of whiskey, Ibuprofen and the NHL Network have managed much better results. (*that’s also some free advice for Willie and Sami.)
Perhaps I’ll post some photos of my gravity-induced-facial-reconstruction later this week to scare you. I just want to hold off until I quit scaring myself so f*&#$ing much…

Don’t blame the injuries. Every team has injuries, even the ‘elite’ (circa 2004) Vancouver Canucks. Losing games to ‘lowly’ competitors is unforgiveable for the Stanleycupless Canucks.
Looks like Luongo’s decision to take some time off from the grind was a great idea, right?
Now where’s that panic button again?
