From Jeff Paterson at the Straight:
The Vancouver Canucks have issued a statement inviting media to General Motors Place on Wednesday morning (June 11) for what the team is calling, “A special announcement from Trevor Linden”.
Exactly 20 years to the day after Linden was drafted 2nd overall by the Vancouver Canucks in 1988, the popular forward will announce his retirement from the Canucks and the National Hockey League. The official word will come at 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

The best way I know how: pretending it’s not true.
(I’ll deal with reality tomorrow, when the press conference forces me to.)

Think how silly Iginla would feel if Linden wasn’t retiring - leading the entire team out to shake his hand at the end of the season was one of the classiest moves I’ve ever seen. Linden didn’t look like he was going to cry, but a lot of the fans looked pretty emotional.
If Vancouver is smart, they have a front office position for him whenever he wants it.

They haven’t hired those assistant coaches yet…there is still hope for me to see Trevor behind the bench, gearing for the day Viggy gets the axe.
Thanks for the memories Trevor…

I’m sure he’ll be around hockey for a while but this is a sad day. Class guy who should be honored in every way possible.

I agree with all of your remarks. Incidentally, the video of Linden’s retirement remarks are here.
