Mats Sundin Attends Canucks Game, Escapes Buttering

You’d think winning 4-0—especially after coming off a cold streak like the Canucks have been going through—would be uber-gratifying. But watching them smoke a team playing as self-destructively as the Kings were last night, I was a bit underwhelmed.
Still, congrats to Roberto Luongo for the shutout, to Taylor Pyatt for looking more like a hockey player again the last couple games, and to the Sedins who are finally out of their black hole. (More on the game at Canuck Nation.)
But while the Canucks held their own on the ice, their fans took a beating from the LA Kings mascot and his giant bag of popcorn last night.
Puck Daddy speculates that the scene may or may not have been staged, but frankly, who cares. Dumping popcorn on a bunch of self-important visiting fans in your building is just good karma. Especially when that visiting team is kicking your ass. (Might as well have some fun.)
In fact I’d even take it a step further… when Oilers fans invade your arena, feel free to shower them in 7-Up.
Fortunately, Mats Sundin was kept safe:
The unrestricted free agent centre was in attendance at the Staples Center to watch the Vancouver Canucks shut out the Los Angeles Kings 4-0. [...]
Sundin, who watched the game from a luxury suite with his agent JP Barry, was also joined by Canucks general manager Mike Gillis.
If the Kings mascot really wants to make headlines next time, I’d suggest he sneak that bag o’ popcorn up into the luxury suites. ![]()
Hopefully Sundin visits Vancouver soon to check out the home turf. There he can enjoy a luxury box in peace—or get up close and personal with Fin if he prefers.
Fin is pretty open-minded…

P.S. more on Mats Sundin today here.
Update 2:05pm PT:
The LA Kings put out their scary Halloween video for the season and the Canucks make an appearance. Go to this post and scroll down to the bottom. Pretty funny.

I personally think Sundin is still going back to Toronto. Lots of teams are still in the hunt, but nothing makes more sense to me than toronto.
I wrote up a summary of who is interested and where he might end up.
My thoughts. http://jib-sports-culture.blogspot.com/
