Mike Ricci Hotness

Well, Christmas is over, so apparently it’s a good time to get down to being obnoxious and mean-spirited. From ESPN’s Page 2:
There are athletes like David Beckham, Tom Brady and Michael Jordan who rise to fame behind their talent and good looks. And then there are those like Otis Nixon, Sam Cassell and Gheorghe Muresan, who become known for being horribly, horribly, horribly ugly.
Ricci fell into the latter camp. Although that association besmirches the likes of Nixon, Cassell and Muresan. Ricci was uglier. Much uglier.
In fact, if you created a person out of the worst genes of those three, raised it in a kennel, beat it about the face every night with a hockey stick and never washed its hair, you’d get Mike Ricci on the day of his high school senior picture.
Poor Mike… although admittedly, he really doesn’t take great photos.

Grow a brain would ya? Hockey players shouldnt be known for their looks since lord knows they will lose that playing the game (teeth, stitches, etc.). Ricci is by far one of the VERY best in hockey and us in San Jose are honored to have him. Its his heart and soul and passion for the game that makes him so loved by the true fans of the game!

Sorry Alanah, I Was too lazy to look up your email addy on the site and just decided to post this last minute brain storm I had: (haha)
Tell me how you dig this idea:
The nhl is sending the wrong teams to europe next season (as they did THIS season) to the wrong places. Instead of sending Crosby and the rangers (or TB or OTT) to Prague or anywhere, THIS blog represents what the nhl should do.
Imagine if the The Bettman sent Detroit and Van-City to Sweden to play a few games? The tickets would sell like hot cakes. They would have to play more than 2 games, as to make it seem as though the nhl was actually giving back to the european hockey consciousness and not just saying ‘nahh nah, look, we raped your country of its best players’.
The NHL needs to friendly up to european contries, most importantly sweden, if they hope to get a IIHF transfer agreement signed. Playing two (possibly more) games in sweden every year might help that cause, same with finland and russia. Profits from the games can be distributed to the respective hockey bodies (and the franchises) of the particular countries).
This upcoming season, the NHL wants to 1) make money via clubs playing in europe and 2) ‘grow the game’ (ie: have sidney play in europe). So, the masterplan…
Send Detroit, Van-tastic-City, and Sidney’s Pens to Sweden. Have them play six games (each plays the other two at ‘home’, saving van @ det and det @van for last). The tickets would fly off the shelf, the road can start to be paved for a fair (and still beneficial to the NHL) transfer agreement, AND sidney would ‘grow the game’ in europe.
Thoughts?
Andy (I have to stop coming up with these obteuse comments on the blog eh? ahh I just cant make myself get into the forum here (or anywhere) though

Shark Fans -
Geez, chill out, will ya? And blame ESPN - I’m just quoting them and pointing to the photos they provided. I couldn’t care less what Ricci looks like and I’ve always liked him as a player, actually.
Underthechestnuttree-
I’d personally enjoy a Swedish NHL game a lot. Detroit Vancouver would probably be great fun.
I like your “master plan”.... interesting. Though I think the NHL would still want New York in there somewhere. That city has selling power on it’s own. Though Jagr isn’t helping the cause much this year…

Hey, if you want a Swedish game with the Rangers, they have Lundqvist!

How about Dallas with their Finns against Vancouver with their Swedes? That could be fun.
And no one is saying Mike Ricci isn’t a good hockey player - everyone who saw him play knows he was a fine player.
It is undeniably true that he also looks as though he fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down before landing (face first, of course) on the ice.

Annnd Ricci. What nobody seems to understand is that women in Colorado LOVED Mike Ricci.
Essentially they were getting all hot and bothered about a toothless Chewbacca.
I never understood it.
