Nothing Says “I Heart You” Like a $100,000 Car

From GossipGirls.com (...because apparently I have no shame):
What do you get for the girl who has everything? No, really, when you’re buying for Hilary Duff, that question must ring especially true. And her boyfriend decided to take a trip to the Mercedes dealer to celebrate her birthday.
And oh what a present he got her! Duff’s boyfriend, Mike Comrie, called her up to say that he’d purchased an early 20th birthday present. “I hope you like them,” he told her, faking her out totally. The singer/actress told press she was thinking, “Okay, it’s shoes or something.” But when she went to her sisters house to get the gift, she was awestruck.
Rather than shoes or earrings, or matching hockey pucks with their names on them (Comrie is an NHL player) she found a $100,000+ Mercedes Benz G-class SUV with a big red bow on top.
You know what my coolest birthday present was this year? A book, Canucks Legends, by Jeff Rud. And it’s great, but perhaps dating Mike Comrie is a better idea than I had previously considered.
Meanwhile, these maniacs have only been dating for 2 months. Imagine what Christmas will be like.

A book, Canucks Legends, by Jeff Rud.
The one with Mark Messier on the front, right?

Cupster33 - Perhaps idiotic to give it to Ms. Duff… I couldn’t say. But I think we can all agree it would’ve been brilliant if someone gave it to ME. ![]()
Roddie - Smartass. God, I wish people would quit saying that name.

She’s an airhead if she thought he was getting her shoes. What a stupid gift.
Two options come to my mind: Either she is really good to him, or he is really desperate and looking to buy a little companionship. God, I’m such a cynic.

Considering the boyfriends rep and background he’s buying some time for companionship and something a lot more disreputable. She actually seems like a really likable normal girl, too, to be mixed up with him. He’s got enough resources to prey on anyone for his sick ends.

Does Comrie really make that kind of dough to go out and plunk down $100K on a car for her…especially given that she probably is work many times over what Comrie is making?
What are people thinking when they purchase gifts like this? AND…what are people thinking when they are sooooo excited to receive a gift like this?? Shallow.

(It’s too late for kids to be on the internet, so I’m going to say he might be thinking with the wrong head.)

I don’t know if I’m as cynical about it as everyone else. I mean, don’t get me wrong, NO ONE is going to convince me that a $100,000 car is a good idea. But mostly, I just find it funny.
The thing is, Comrie comes from huge family money - the guy is heir to a freakin’ fortune. I suppose this is the kinda thing “heirs” do. (God, if he and Paris Hilton started dating, I’d be amused forever…)
Anyway, gotta love pop-culture - it’s a quick way to get NHL hockey in the mainstream press, anyway.

Wonder if she has his name tattooed on her…
Oh yeah not every girl gets hockey players…
Never mind. What am I on about anyway…

People do use it so loosely. I personally believe “Real” Love do exist. It is just like the saying “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. Who’s to say what beautiful really is….singles polen

It is all brain activity….What goes on above the neck affects what goes on below the neck. Hopes, expectations, desires cause uplift in chemical reactions. Disappointment, unmet desires and expections etc., reduces them and causes a low. Thus, emotional highs and lows that feel or seem to affect the whole body.
