The final chapter in the 82 part nightmare that has been the Vancouver Canucks 2007-08 season, unfolds tonight at GM Place. A downer of a game for Canucks fans, but still worth watching for a couple reasons.
For one, a win against the Flames increases the likelihood they become Shark-bait in the first round of the playoffs. And for another, it’s likely to be the goodbye game for Trevor Linden and possibly Markus Naslund. (Miss 604 suggests we consider it the Unofficial Trevor Linden Appreciation Day. Good plan.)
Anyway, about Calgary.
Fortunately I was at the Vancouver Airport yesterday and managed to snap a photo of Dion Phaneuf, who clearly wasn’t expecting any cameras to be around. Apparently he borrowed some of his girlfriend’s clothing in his hurry to make the team plane?
Gotta love a man who’s this comfortable with his masculinity…

Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
Besides, I blame Lainey. When I read this a couple weeks ago, I knew I’d have to take action:
So Elisha Cuthbert has a thing for hockey players. After Sean there was supposedly a hook up with the Habs’ Mike Komisarek, and now, I’m told it’s Dion Phaneuf and everyone in Calgary will tell you…he’s f*cking amazing.
Amazing.
Just signed 6 year contract reportedly worth over $6 million a year and he’s only 22…one of the brightest young stars in the league. And his c*ck just got a little bigger. Because he’s banging the girl next door.
After reading that, I knew I was either going to have to start vomiting, or engineer some grotesquely-bad photoshopping.
I think I made an excellent choice.
(And I hope you appreciate the trouble I go to, Vancouver, to make this world a better place...)
And for one last time—Go Canucks!

All I can say is that he’s recently been called a punk, and now he’s starting to dress like one.
Thanks for the good chuckle, Alanah. Can’t wait to see #16 hanging in the rafters at GM Place.

Ah ok, Elisha is way outta Phaneuf’s league.
Never mind the looks, have you ever heard the guy use any word with more than one syllable in it?
However, we aren’t exactly in a good position to trash talk Calgary...... Damn flamers.

Perfect look for Dion

Puckhound61 --Well, I understand your disappointment. I just try and see the bright side where I can. (This is the Canucks we’re talking about, after all; disappointment isn’t a stranger to our history with this freakin’ team...).
Anyway, enjoy the playoffs.
dash_pinched -- Glad you got a laugh. And yes, Linden’s number ceremony will be a very big deal indeed.
Laker -- I figure I’m perfectly within my rights to trash talk Calgary. After all, they’re the ones in the playoffs and we aren’t… so I think I’m entitled to a little bit of light-hearted bitterness!
Of course, it goes without saying that Flames fans get the ‘last laugh’ anyway. Sigh.
ocenbrez -- Perhaps next time I’ll find him some nice, strappy, sexy high heels… that should really add something to the look, right?

How can I enjoy them when we have been eliminated?
The freakin team drives people mad.

I agree, Nonis must get fired becuase he did not get off his fat ass. NAsland must go; Anson Carter should be placed in with the Sedins. Luongo must go. Letting in every other shot is not good goaltending. Send him to Florida, sign Martin St Louis. Get rid of Willie Mitchell, he too is over rated 2 goal blunder.

Since when is St. Louis a goaltender - or available?
See how Luongo plays when he has a legitimate NHL defense in front of him, not a bunch of injury fill-ins, and when the team can score enough that he doesn’t have to shut the opponent out every single game and knows that as soon as he lets up two goals he might as well write a loss for Vancouver down in permanent ink.
He’s had a rough year personally, and next year he should be fine after some time with his new family.

Nice catch on the photo Alanah. While you continue to hate my Avs, I think Canucks fans and Avs fans can all agree that Phaneuf is a jackass.

Russ, do you really Luongo was the problem, and not the two and a half Swedes and assorted parts you’ve got for forwards, or the fact that that your defense turned into a six-headed version of Jordan Leopold?

Andrew;
we all love to hate the sedins.
However, show me two other players who combined for 140 points this year for 7 million. I’d bet the examples are few.
Naslund on the other hand.......

Not really interested in watching the game, probably will, but the level of dissapointment fir me is very high this season.
I have my fingers crossed Naslund is not coming back, and Nonis gets off his fat ass and makes some changes, even it that means trading away a prospect for a top 6 player or two.
