Earlier today, Vancouver claimed Ossi Vaananen off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers.
I don’t know much about the guy—frankly, it’s liable to take me the rest of this season and half of next just to learn how to spell his name correctly—but fortunately the good people at Canucks.com put together a dynamite highlight video of all Ossi’s greatest moments:
Ok. Did you watch it? Are you a bit bewildered? ‘Cause apparently it was just one goal in one game that makes up the entirely of Vaananen’s career highlights. Super stuff there.
Fortunately, oodles more Vaananen on Youtube. (And he can even take out the referees, in a pinch...).

Hell, by that endorsement, I could almost get in the lineup myself. 
You’re right about the vowels (as years of Ruutu fandom have taught me) but Ossi’s name presents all sorts of opportunities to screw it up. Vaenennen, Vannen, Vaannennen, Vaanantananfififofannen…
It’s too much!

Ah, so many good giggles off your misspellings of his name as they all can be read as various different things in Nordic languages.

Ossi is a solid warm body as a #6 guy, and is good insurance in case Salo gets injured and/or SOB keeps taking dumb penalties.
