From TSN:
Vancouver Canucks defenceman Sami Salo will be sidelined four weeks with a broken rib.
The team made the announcement at practice Friday.
Sigh. Well, it’s Vancouver. If we weren’t breaking defensemen every other week, we’d be a different team.

No wonder, no Canadian team has won the Cup for 15 years with that attitude to new team members.
I don’t recall seeing the same response from the Detroit crowd with the arrival of Hossa. Nor Pittsburgh’s, when they gave up a lot of prospects for a Hossa rental. Instead he was celebrated upon announcement by both team’s supporter camps.
You may suggest that Hossa gave up a lot of money to play in Detroit. In truth, he didn’t really, he gave up term - granted he stays healthy he’ll be seeing a lot of that money. At $7.45 million for a one year deal, it is only slightly less than what Sundin is taking. Hossa would have demanded more if it wasn’t for the “Lidstrom rule”.
The Canadian supporter motto seams to be, assume the worst about a player until proven otherwise. Particularly so, if the addition is not Canadian born and bread.

Geez, Salo is brittle. What’s the guy gonna be like when he’s 80? If he slips in the shower his whole body will shatter.
