—Forget the Stanley Cup, there’s a new trophy in town: “a trophy constructed out of old barn boards and a pair of worn hockey skates, but it’s not really about winning.” It really isn’t—it’s about 30-something men bonding over hockey and dismantled farm structures.
—May there be a special place in hell for the people who pirated—and have now destroyed?—the East Side Hockey Manager game. But Sports Interactive MD hopes to find a solution eventually.
—NHL Digest has a rundown on Fred Sasakamoose, the first native hockey player to make the NHL and played for the Chicago Blackhawks. He’s now being inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame.
—Anaheim has decided it would be best if January just fu#$ing ended. (I dunno. The rest of the Western Conference rather enjoyed January in Anaheim…)
—There’s apparently an article in the February 12 edition of ESPN The Magazine, all about an old favorite, Mike Keane: “After 1,161 NHL games and three Stanley Cups, 39-year-old veteran Mike Keane will do anything to keep playing hockey. That includes signing on with the Manitoba Moose.”
—Finally, there are “zero untouchables” on the Philadelphia Flyers, says Sportsnet. (Well no freakin’ kidding…)

I downloaded, installed and did the initial set-up, but never got far in it because of time. But yeah, I got a REAL quick idea how addictive that game could get.

I let the NHL Digest know that the player’s name is spelled incorrectly. I guess I better let you know the name is

Sad day for EHM :( Did you ever end up trying out that 6-month trial? I was literally in front of my computer for a solid 8 hours obsessively watching my team tank and completely miss the playoffs. CRACK.
