Some Canucks Trivialities

I spotted this graphic on Sportsnet the night of the game against San Jose.
“Upload your Canucks playlist to iTunes” and you might get a chance to sit in DJ Dave’s booth and help choose the playlist for GM Place that night.
While this strikes me as a reasonably decent contest idea (I think nearly everyone in Vancouver has bitched about the tunes at GM Place at some point or another) I’m not sure I’ll much care for the musical choices of most people who are likely to enter this thing.
Seems like there’s a very real chance some jackass puts K-Fed on the speakers at a million decibels…
From NHL.com’s Frozen Moment yesterday, I snagged this photo, which is featured in the book Reflections on a Hockey Season, raising money for cancer:

And finally, Ryan Shannon is Darien Sports Person of the Year:
The Fairfield County Sports Commission has named Ryan Shannon the Darien Sports Person of the Year.
It didn’t take long for Shannon to achieve what every youth hockey player dreams about growing up — to have your name engraved alongside the greatest hockey players in the world on the Stanley Cup. The 24-year-old Shannon made his rookie season in the National Hockey League a memorable one by helping his Anaheim Ducks win the Stanley Cup last season.
The ceremony is to be held October 22nd, exactly one year to the day after Shannon scored his first goal in the NHL. But since the Canucks are in Carolina that night, I guess he’ll be missing out on accepting the honor in person. Alas.
But now someone needs to wiki Ryan onto the “List of Notable People From Darien”
The boy’s a superstar now.

Thanks, Expat! I KNEW I’d seen it somewhere before, but I’d totally forgotten about it till it showed up on the broadcast the other night.
And it’s not that there’s anything wrong with your musical tastes; it’s just everybody’s, I figure. I’m sure my own choices would terrorize large numbers of people, if I had DJ power in that building.

And you are right, my musical tastes probably wouldn’t impress everyone. But, I still hold fast to the theory that a DJ needs to mix it up and keep it fresh. Playing the same songs in the same situation for over 10 years is not what I call ‘fresh.’
