Stan Smyl Survives Yet Another Regime Change

From TSN:

The Vancouver Canucks made some front office moves on Thursday, naming Stan Smyl their new Director, Collegiate Scouting and adding Dave Gagner as their new Director, Player Development.

“The expansion of Stan’s role and the addition of Dave to our staff are a significant step in our continued efforts to enhance the way we develop and evaluate young players,” explained general manager Mike Gillis.

Good news about Smyl, I think.  Hard to imagine him going anywhere, having been associated with the Canucks for nearly as long as I can remember watching hockey.  Dave Gagner, of course, played in the NHL some 14 years, eventually retiring as a Canuck in ‘99. He’s most recently been acting as an assistant coach in the OHL.

I guess now that Gagner’s no longer in London, he decided it was time to go back to the big leagues?  At least it’s close by.
