The 80s: Like a Jungle Sometimes

It’s Friday, so let me go completely off-topic for a moment. I just read about some bands getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, and holy hell, Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five are on the list.
Flashing back to 1982 (please don’t bother telling me if that’s before you were born...) here’s The Message, a song which hung around for years too long. Still, “Don’t push me ‘cause I’m close to the edge” was a great riff.
More 80s, for no reason:
Worst Television Shows of the 80s
Best Songs of the 80s (*essentially the worst music ever made, though AC/DC keeps it from being a total disaster, imo.)

Don’t force me start posting AC/DC videos now. Believe me, I’ll do it…

Heh, I just made a “99 Luftballons” reference in my German homework the other day. I didn’t know that was an 80s thing.
The 80s were horrible for pop, but pretty good for heavy metal (i.e. not hair bands).

And so I point you to this bit of brilliance.
White Lines covered by Duran Duran
This is so damn good, it made Duran Duran fun again. You can feel the keyboard player hating himself.

Doogie2k, I’m embarrassed to say that I knew all the words to 99 Luftballoons in English and German back then. But in my own defense, didn’t everybody?
Wow. Duran Duran and Grand Master Flash. That is one hell of a find, Tapeleg. All I remember about DD is how everyone figured they were such “seriously important musicians”. Whatever.
But that tune… I don’t really remember it, but it actually is kind of fun. Clearly that must have been the influence of GMF.
