The Privilege of Voting

It’s federal election day in Canada, and for all my negativity about politicians, politics, economics—and especially how that all can mix itself up into hockey (ick)—I’m certainly not cynical about our right to vote.
So in a non-partisan attempt to encourage today’s voting, I reached out to the leaders of the five major federal parties: the Bloc Quebecois, the Conservatives, the Green Party, the NDP and the Liberals, and asked them (1) who their favourite childhood NHL teams were, and (2) their favorite hockey memories.
The Bloc, Greens and Conservatives chose not to respond, but the leaders of the NDP and the Liberal Party were kind enough to do so, which is why only their answers are available here:
NDP
Leader: Jack Layton
Favorite NHL team: Les Canadiens de Montréal
Favorite hockey memory: When they won the Cup in Season 1992/93.
Liberal Party
Leader: Stéphane Dion
Favorite team: Montreal Canadiens.
Favorite Hockey Memory: Paul Henderson’s goal in the 1972 Summit Series!
Mr. Dion mentioned he also had a chance to meet Alexei Kovalev during an interview on a French talk show call “Tout le monde en parle” earlier in the campaign, which was a big thrill for him.
Anyway, whoever you choose to vote for, just be sure to vote!

SENShobo -- My french isn’t great at all, but I imagine a “crush” in French might definitely be misconstrued. Bad translation, I’d guess (and hope!).

The Ottawa Citizen had a series of questions they asked all leaders, though Harper was the one holdout. Asked who they had posters of on their wall as a kid, Duceppe answered Maurice Richard, of course. But it was a little surprising (or a misunderstanding) when he was asked who he had a crush on as a kid. And gave the same answer.
