From Ben Kuzma at The Province:
A three-minute video tribute may be all the incentive the Vancouver Canucks will need Saturday night to put forth a 60-minute effort at GM Place.
When Markus Naslund is saluted in a pre-game ceremony for hitting the 1,000-game plateau - that milestone occurred Thursday in Detroit - it’s hard to imagine the captain not drawing a lengthy standing ovation after compiling 805 points (362-443) and helping the once-floundering franchise flourish.
Congrats to Naslund—now if only they could find him a line to play with where he could pad those points. Tonight it’ll be a new twist as he skates with Mason Raymond and newcomer Kris Beech. (So much for Botchford’s Linden Plan).
Notes:
Mattias Ohlund returns tonight from his 11 game absence; Willie Mitchell and his sore back are a game-time decision; Roberto Luongo will be the guest on HNIC’s After Hours; and finally, a note on the Canucks boards says Dave Babych will be hanging out at the game tonight, signing autographs by sec.318 tonight before puck drop.
Might turn out useful having an extra d-man in the building…
