Vancouver’s Future is in Didjuneau, Alaska

Earlier we saw Plan B moving into action, now here’s Plan ‘Z’ from The Spoof:
DIDJUNEAU - ALASKA: Levi Johnston, the 18-year old, self-proclaimed ‘Redneck” and father of Rep-Veep Sarah Palin’s soon-to-be born grandchild was offered a 2-year 20 million US$ deal by the Vancouver Canucks.
Said Canuck GM Mike Gillis, “We’re tired of waiting on that procrastinating Swede Sundin. His loss is LJ’s gain”.
Gillis further believes that The Redneck brings an exciting new vision for the Canucks future:
“Have you seen this guy? He’s Sex on Skates; he’s another Todd Bertuzzi in the making. We need wild, horny, hormonally charged dudes on our team if we want to make the Cup.”
Do we? Makes me wonder why Messier was such a bust, then…
Anyway, enough of that. Spoofs are fun, but I’m mildly concerned about the fact that someone witnessing the current roller-coaster-crash that is the Sarah Palin’s political career considered the whole issue and thought to themselves, “Awesome! I bet there’s an exciting new way to make fun of the Canucks here!”
Geezus, this team gets some weird-assed PR sometimes.

Not convinced that it’s a crash and burn—every politician gets this kind of crap from the other side determined to destroy the other side when they can’t fight on the issues. We see it all the time—it’s immaturity, desperation, and pettiness all rolled into one. In the grand scheme of things, the “he said she said” won’t matter two farts in a forest.

GZ Expat - Geez… It would appear I might be the only person that saw this story in the last 24 hours who didn’t see the opportunity to make fun of the Canucks with it!
Is it September Yet - You may be right. I wasn’t intending political commentary, just having fun. I ignore actual politics around here whenever possible. (Meaning, “always.")

Maybe the Canucks can find comfort in the fact that they have apparently become synonymous with the sport of hockey. Why else would any story with the word “hockey” become involved with Vancouver instead of, say, Toronto? Maybe Toronto isn’t the center of the hockey universe anymore.
(And the candidates and their spokespeople haven’t been talking about the poor girl and her possible shotgun wedding much at all. It’s been the media for the most part because the story involves the same skills they have honed in their celebrity fluff pieces instead of actually covering news stories.)

ha. very nice. the redneck looks like he’ll be a great father. ...or further proof that you can put just about anyone on line with the sedins (read: anson carter) and he’ll be just fine.
that link you posted to the palin article on yahoo has an extra h in the link, though. just fyi, buckaroo.

Baroque - You might have a point. But I worry that might mean we’re the defacto ‘center of the hockey universe’ at the moment, simply due to our team’s suckitude.
gsamsa - thanks for the heads up about the broken link. It’s fixed now!

Is this what she meant when she called herself a ‘hockey mom’?

It’s a bit unfortunate that a number of blogs have referred to Palin’s campaign as a train wreck. For the life of me I can’t see why that is the perception, other than the American media fueling it as expected. She’s a real person, with a real family, as opposed to the cookie-cutter pols we normally have shoved down our throats. This chick’s gonna surprise a lot of people in a positive way. End of speech.
Otherwise, funny stuff.
