This from News 1130:
Vancouver Canucks forward Taylor Pyatt is on his way home to Thunder Bay, after his fiancee was killed in a car accident.
Carly Bragnalo was killed yesterday in a crash in Jamaica where she was on holidays.
The couple was to be married this summer.

Update 10:57am PT: via TSN, this statement from Canucks GM Mike Gillis—
‘‘Today the Canucks lost a member of our family. Carly was a lovely and generous young woman who shared her spirit for life with our players, their spouses and their extended families. We will support the Bragnalo family, Taylor and his entire family in any way we can during this very difficult time.’‘

This is awful, I feel terrible for him. I can’t imagine having to deal with this. I am about the same age as Pyatt, and just got married six months ago… just the thought of having to deal with this sort of things puts a pit in my stomach.
I’m obviously a Wings fan through-and-through. But this type of story helps put things in perspective. You realize that almost all these players, whether they’ve got a winged wheel or Johnny Canuck on their jersey, are really good, humble people, with lives just like the rest of us. They’ve got family and friends they care about and count on. They’ve got people they share their joys and sorrows with. It’s the type of situation that will have me rooting for Pyatt and the Canucks, because just maybe he can find some solace and comfort in hockey.
My thoughts go out to Pyatt, his family, his fiance’s family, and all their friends.

You have a normal, boring, run of the mill day, consider it a blessing because one never knows when you will get a terrible phone call about the fate of a family member, a call from a doctor about that lump you had checked out last week, or discover that your spouse is not who you that he/she was. An “average” day is a GREAT DAY! I’ve had my share of not so great days and all I can say is that time does heal, but it doesn’t happen overnight and we are never the same. Life sometimes sucks but we go on because it beats the alternative. Taylor will get through this because he has lots of loving people around him.
