Voting on the Possible New Canucks Logo

There’s been months of speculation about the new Canucks logo and it was reignited this week.
Yesterday, Canucks Hockey Blog put up an image of the possible new RBK logo and HF Boards had the same image being debated online there. (It differs significantly from the last “leaked” logo which I put online here back in February).
Does anyone like it? I’m pretty sure I think it sucks, but I’ll try and hold off judgment for a while and see if it grows on me. Meanwhile, I’ve added a poll below, to get an idea what everyone else thinks.

I hate it and hope its not the design…
its time to lose the Orca and go back to the stick in rink.

Hey, they found an abandoned corpse of the Orca. Don’t worry, the funeral home can restore its natural color. I heard a rumor that it got attacked by the new, more aggressive 3-D demon Shark.

Far be it from the NHL to actually capitulate to the fans, but seriously… how does Orca Bay not realize that their fans want the vintage logo back!

Jesus Christ, that looks retarded.

Mal -- I hear what you’re saying about tradition, but regarding jerseys and associated logos, I don’t think it’s practical for us to expect things to say the same. It would be nice if they could better mix in the traditions with the changes, though.
PuckHound -- I’m with you. I love the vintage logo.
Mike Chen -- Don’t be a smartass, or you’ll force me to make fun of that new Sharks logo! (And I don’t want to, ‘cause I sorta like it. All those teeth are awesome.)
Karina -- It’s a good point. I wonder what kind of polling and research they do for this… certainly, everything I’ve seen suggests that the majority do seem to like the vintage one most.
Doogie -- Geez, quit holding back. Tell us how you really feel about it…

That above poll from Poll Daddy… if a few thousand Canucks fans were asked the same question, stick in rink would probably garner 70-75% of the vote…
the Orca would get a small vote, and the skate would get some votes..... I think thats how the voting would go IF the amount of people polled were in the 10 thousand + range, and any number above that. LOL

Well, that’s pretty much what seems to be happening, even with a small sample like this.

do the ‘nucks play the makebeliefs this year? Becaus a person with A) poor eyesight; and/or B) one who’s had a few too many Molson’s could get confused if the team opts for #3.

The Canucks dont play any Northeast team this year, what a bummer :-(

I hate that damn Orca. Its nothing more than a cynical exercise in branding thought up by a bunch of clueless marketing people. Our company is called Orca Bay. Hey, I know… why don’t we put an Orca in the logo.

I like it

modified orca...meaning “bleached of all color or the limited personality/interest it had before”
blech. :(
I like the classic stick. Sometimes less is more, and retro is really in right now.

The classic stick, it’s time to bring it back

I believe the the stick and rink will be it. we are some what used to it since we ve seen it in 20+ games last season.there is no way they are going to use the orca because Orca Bay ind. DONT F’N OWN IT ANY MORe!!!!!! I think the Johnny canuck logo on Luongos white helmut should be on there some where maybe on the shoulders after all we would never have the the name Canucks in b.c. if there were never any Johnny Canuck storys and they go way way back long before there was ever a Vancouver Canucks Hockey team

I think one of the worst things you can do in sports is mess with tradition. When Bettman changed the conference names (Wales, Campbell) and division names like Patrick and Norris, it was a major blow to NHL history. The NHL’s rich history and tradition should be used to keep the league strong. Than he goes and changes the classic NHL logo. He’s trying to attract new fans, yet new fans would probably be more impressed with the tradition of the sport than new gimmicks. The old traditional uniforms and logos are the best way to go for all teams.
