What, Me Worry?

So last night, the AHL’s own Vancouver Canucks managed to whoop the reigning Stanley Cup Champions (well, technically it was maybe 30 minutes of “whoop” and 30 minutes of “please don’t kill us” but it worked out, so, whatever...) and tonight they face the Sharks.
What, me worry? Never. For one thing, the Canucks have the formidable, daunting superstar-to-be Jason Jaffray on their side (26 year old former ECHLer, first NHL game of his career last night, first NHL goal, and first star of the game. What’s not to love?). And then there’s Curtis Sanford (a.k.a. “the second coming of Patrick Roy”, a pronouncement that both pleases and nauseates me). Looking good.
But of course the Sharks deserve respect. Even forgetting their hockey skills for a moment, I was perusing San Jose’s game day notes today and was well-entertained by some random trivia. Such as:
Douglas Murray
The defenseman also happens to be the managing partner of UberTap, a hands-free, three-spouted keg tapping system. UberTap was notably referred to by Gizmodo as the key to going from “Zero to Drunk in Record Time.”
Awesome.
Curtis Brown:
SJ media staff notes the following information in Brown’s bio: “Locked himself out of his Phoenix hotel room recently...hotel staff needed to break down his door”
Umm, what? I assume the hotel had other keys, so who in god’s name is Brown’s roommate and wtf was he doing barricading himself in the room?!
Christian Ehrhoff
Christian has his own website, Ehrhoff.com, which welcomed me with Madonna singing “Hung Up.” And honestly, any guy confident enough to blast disco on his website… how do you NOT like him… just a little?
Devin Setoguchi
Lives with teammate Torrey Mitchell, and apparently Mitchell’s girlfriend does Setoguchi’s laundry for him. (Have I mentioned, this information is in the official game day notes?!)
Joe Thornton
Visited the Taj Mahal in Indian last summer. So while he might be an evil force from a Canucks fan perspective, I’m fascinated to know he’s at least a cultured evil force.
So that’s all. A bit of trivia about some Sharks. They don’t seem that scary, do they?
