Working Script: TSN Drama

TSN seems to have all kinds of fun in store for Canadian hockey fans this year, and their off-season news rolls out nicely when considered together as some demented screenplay.
For instance:
Setting & Mood Music: TSN gets the HNIC theme music, telling us with a self-satisfied tone that they’re pleased to have “saved” the song. Tears of a grateful nation ensue. We are an emotional bunch.
Act 1: TSN announces they’ve got a new network on the horizon—TSN2 starts up on August 29th. (800+ additional hours of live sports coverage coming up? I hear the sound of tractor pulls in our future, but whatever.)
Act 2: TSN hires Ray Ferraro to a national broadcast job. I’m struggling to care, but I’m not distressed about it, either. The news manages to carry the second act without collapsing the set.
Act 3: (still being written) TSN hires… John Tortorella??
This last theory is served up by Damian Cristodero at Lightning Strikes today. Just a possibility.
Tortorella with a press pass is an interesting proposition. Where would he focus his anger at in the future? Although if he just continued to take potshots at the press while being a member of the press, that might make for some damn good television.

I see ... fistfights worthy of the Japanese parliament. ![]()
Tractor pulls, heck - wait until they go to poker, scrabble, cheerleading competitions, and “World’s Strongest Man” stuff - basically enormous mounds of humanity flipping over truck tires and dragging heavy things with ropes.
(Sometimes I can’t reach the remote quick enough!)

I had the genius idea a few days ago - led in part by NBC’s awesome “commentators” for the Olympics - to turn down the center channel on my receiver and up the left and right channels. Less talking, more sounds of the game.
I’m sure somebody else has thought of it before because I smacked my head and said “Man, I’m an idiot for not thinking of this before”
The other people in the restaurant gave me a wide berth after that…
