from the Detroit Free Press,

The Tigers have acquired third baseman Miguel Cabrera and left-hander Dontrelle Willis from the Florida Marlins in exchange for a package of six prospects including outfielder Cameron Maybin and left-hander Andrew Miller.

continued and this has been talked about all day but now coming to a head.  ESPN also confirms.

Effin’ awesome.

I was sad about losing Miller and Maybin for about three seconds, until I realized what the Tigers’ batting order looks like now:

Granderson
Polanco
Cabrera
Ordonez
Guillen
Renteria
Rodriguez
Sheffield
Jones

Or, how about our new starting rotation?

Verlander
Willis
Bonderman
Robertson
Rogers

Based on that lineup, and depending what happens with some return on guys like Inge and Thames, our only real concerns are with relief pitching and depth.  And both those potential problems could turn out well for the Tigers, depending on the breaks, and Zumaya’s ability to recover.

Tim Kurkjian is on right now talking about how great Miller and Maybin are- but they are raw and undeveloped, whereas Willis and CABRERA (!) are proven stars in the bigs.

Dombrowski is a stud.  If we stay healthy, I think this lineup can take four of seven against the Red Sox, Josh Beckett be damned…

Rad.

I’m a bit upset that we lost Maybin.  I just heard a collective scream of “NO!” from teenagers across metro Detroit in losing Miller.
