Goal Line Report
All I want for Christmas Is…

Well, a win last night over the Washington Capitals would have been nice but unfortunately, the New York Rangers blew a four-goal lead and allowed the Caps’ to score five unanswered goals to beat the Blueshirts 5-4 in overtime at the Garden.
Figures, the Rangers actually score close to a handful goals at home and still cannot come away with a victory. Hopefully, this loss won’t stick in their minds too long as the team has an important tilt with the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night at MSG followed by a game against the New York Islanders on Monday night, also at MSG.
With all that said, here is my Christmas wishlist for the New York Rangers for the rest of the 2008-09 season:
Henrik Lundqvist: A Vezina Trophy at the end of the season
Stephen Valiquette: More starts in goal
Nikolai Zherdev: Super-stardom on Broadway
Scott Gomez: Better defensive play and a finisher to play with
Markus Naslund: a 30-goal season
Ryan Callahan: a 20-25 goal season
Chris Drury: More consistent play and more goals scored
Nigel Dawes: More offensive contributions
Aaron Voros: A return to early-season form
Brandon Dubinsky: See Voros
Fredrik Sjostrom: More offensive contributions
Colton Orr: A reward for his hard work
Blair Betts: More offensive punch to his great defensive efforts
Lauri Korpikoski: To continue to stay with the Rangers
Michal Rozsival: Quieting down the boo birds
Marc Staal: Some power play time
Dan Girardi: Some recognition from the league as a solid offensive defenseman
Wade Redden: Some better play both offensively and defensively
Dmitri Kalinin: See Redden, especially defensively
Paul Mara: Getting more shots on net
I hope everyone has a happy holiday season!
