Another Blogger’s Opinion on Why Moving Heatley is Going to be Difficult

From Ryan McFadden at Blueshirt Banter:
It seems like Murray is refusing to allow the market to set the price for Heatley. The Senators need to come to grips with the fact that Heatley is not going to return equal value before or after July 1st when the $4 million in salary to him is due. Not in a salary capped league and not in a recession.
Every since the news of Heatley wanting a trade broke, I have been saying over and over that it is not going to be easy for him to be moved. I’ve beaten the proverbial dead horse saying that Heatley is not going to return equal valuefor four reasons:
1) They don’t have much leverage at the draft with the $4 million that Heatley is owed hanging over their heads.
2) That sum will immediately eliminate a number of teams from pursuing him until after July 1st when the amount is to paid to Heatley.
3) There is the limited number of teams which Heatley will accept a trade too.
4) The number of potential trading partners dwindles even further as some are not willing to take on a large contract during this economy.

The Rangers 19th overall pick, Michal Rozsival, and Nikolai Zherdev might be as good as it gets for Bryan Murray and the Sens.
HAHAHA! Now that is wishful Ranger thinking. What Ranger blogers and fans can not understand is by saying “Michal Rozival” in any trade rumor, that destroys the possibility right away. “Rozival” is not an asset. Now lets look at Zherdev. An unsigned RFA. If there was a chart that would illustrate the most likely player to next join the KHL, Zherdev would lead the list. As a matter of fact, I am pretty sure the only think that keeps him from the KHL right now is the big city of New York. Take NYC away and he is good as gone.
If the offer was Zerdev and the rangers 19th overall the Senators would turn it down for sure. By throwing in a 3 year 15 million dollar loser like Rozival, forget it.
Wow.

About Goal Line Report
The Goal Line Report will focus on all things Eastern Conference. Do I have a bias towards the Eastern Conference just because I am a New Yorker? No, but it certainly does make things easier! I’ll make my opinions known on Eastern Conference news bits (as often as I can), big games, hot and cold players, trades (I don’t make things up) and anything and everything else related to the Eastern Conference that I think is important for hockey fans to know. I will, in every sense of the word, be the beast of the East while also making sure to drop my thoughts on other hockey news items.
I, Patrick Hoffman, have covered the NHL since 2003 and have worked for a variety of hockey media sources including: Stan Fischler, Spector’s Hockey, TheHockeyNews.com, HockeyBuzz.com, McKeen’s Hockey, Blueshirt Bulletin, XM Home Ice Channel Hockey Blog, HockeyPrimeTime.com, FantasyHockey.com. NY SportsDay, and HokejaVestnesis.com.

The only team other than the Rangers who could possibly meet Heatley’s demans would most likely be the LA Kings with that huge cap space. Anze Kopitar, Jack Johnson, and Jonathon Quick are great young guys and players. Adding Heatley would definitely bolster their scoring esp. with Terry Murray opening up the offensive game giving Kopitar more freedom.
