Goal Line Report
Avery Playing the Way He Should Play All Season Long

After watching last night’s pre-season game between the New York Rangers and the New Jersey Devils, it is clear that Sean Avery is on his game.
He’s battling hard, going after the puck, being a pain in the behind and generating a lot of scoring chances. So far tonight against the Detroit Red Winds, he’s doing all the same things but has a goal to show for it.
This is a Sean Avery that Rangers’ head coach John Tortorella can live with. It’s the dumb penalties, mouthing off to the referees or becoming a distraction to the team that Torts cannot deal with.
That is where the fine line for Sean Avery is and one that will be watched closely all season long by Tortorella. In fact, it is more than likely that Torts will use that line to determine how much playing time he gets in a given game.
Believe me, I know that many fans out there hate Avery. It’s completely understandable because he’s a pest and does everything he can to get under your skin.
With that said, he’s a guy that you’ll love once he’s on your club, along as he plays within his role.
