Blueshirts Win in Beantown

Another solid effort helps give the New York Rangers a 3-1 win over a struggling Boston Bruins hockey club.
This game saw Rangers’ netminder Henrik Lundqvist stop a penalty shot, goals by Michael Del Zotto, Brandon Dubinsky, and Erik Christensen and a tremendous performance from the team’s defense. These factors have certainly been the story in the Rangers’ latest 8-1-3 streak.
This game could have actually been 5 or 6-0 if not for the play of Bruins’ netminder Tim Thomas. He did everything he could to keep his team in the hockey game but unfortunately, the team in front of him didn’t show up.
It’s amazing how good the Blueshirts can play when you see a game like this. They put shots to the net, they were great on the penalty kill (ranked fifth in the league), they allowed their goaltender to see the puck and they capitalized on their chances when they needed to.
A team that can do this game in and game out is a dangerous one to play against and right now, the Blueshirts are becoming one. Thanks to the team’s recent streak, the Rangers now find themselves in the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference, just one point behind the fifth place Boston Bruins and five points behind the fourth place Pittsburgh Penguins.
Obviously, there is a lot of hockey left to be played but picking up two points can always go a long way if the team plays the right way. A good test of this will come in the team’s next game, which is Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden against the Conference leading (as of right now) New Jersey Devils.
