Deal on the Horizon for Keith?

From Jesse Rogers at ESPNChicago.com:
While no negotiations have taken place, Keith’s agent, Ross Gurney, is expected in town soon which means those talks could heat up. Keith will get a considerable raise from the $1.5 million he is making now.
Too bad for Duncan he wasn’t born a month earlier; if so, he’d be an unrestricted free-agent at the end of this year instead of next. He’ll be 27 on July 16, 2010 which is the age NHL players become unrestricted but he would need to be 27 by July 1.
This gives him a little leverage, I suppose. If he doesn’t like any long term deals the Hawks have to offer (and doesn’t sign a restricted deal with another team) he could play next year under a “qualifying offer” and then become unrestricted.

About Goal Line Report
The Goal Line Report will focus on all things Eastern Conference. Do I have a bias towards the Eastern Conference just because I am a New Yorker? No, but it certainly does make things easier! I’ll make my opinions known on Eastern Conference news bits (as often as I can), big games, hot and cold players, trades (I don’t make things up) and anything and everything else related to the Eastern Conference that I think is important for hockey fans to know. I will, in every sense of the word, be the beast of the East while also making sure to drop my thoughts on other hockey news items.
I, Patrick Hoffman, have covered the NHL since 2003 and have worked for a variety of hockey media sources including: Stan Fischler, Spector’s Hockey, TheHockeyNews.com, HockeyBuzz.com, McKeen’s Hockey, Blueshirt Bulletin, XM Home Ice Channel Hockey Blog, HockeyPrimeTime.com, FantasyHockey.com. NY SportsDay, and HokejaVestnesis.com.

Random footnote:
I went to a NY Yankees game with my Dad (former Islander player Bob), and we watched the game with Dale Talon, this was two NHL seasons ago, and he called Keith “the most underpaid defenseman in the NHL” at that time. I happen to live in the same town as Duncan (or did at the time, rather - Kelowna BC), and passed on this info. Can’t help but feel like I’ve poured some fuel on the fire in some small way, which makes this a buncha fun to watch.
Not sure if you’ve check out my blog - http://www.jtbourne.com - but I’d like for you to check it out. I’m writing for USA Today and The Hockey News, and am trying to grow my readership. If you like it and feel it worthy, a link would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
