Fact or Fiction and Ranger news

From PuckCentral.net:

According to Andy Strickland of HockeyBuzz - (yeah, I’m about to quote that site):

The Rangers and Nik Antropov are having some preliminary discussions as they would like to re-sign the 29 yr old sniper, but in reality there is very little the Rangers can do unless they move some bodies.

I’m told Antropov is seeking a 4-5 yr. deal worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $4-5 million per season.

Sources inform me that Antropov has cut ties with agent Don Meehan.

Click here for more. Obviously, this smart blogger knows where the information is coming from but it’s still worth a post since Nik Antropov was solid as a Blueshirt in his time here. However, if he is really looking for a 4-5 year deal at the pirce ($4-5 million per season), I can’t see him coming returning next season. What are your thoughts on that?

The same blog also points us to a story by Larry Brooks of The New York Post that says that enforcer Colton Orr will most likely not be returning to Broadway next season:

One very pissed off Rangers fan reporting that according to Larry Brooks of the NY Post today:

The Rangers, by the way, have made no effort to re-sign Colton Orr, who will have no trouble at all scoring a multi-year deal within hours of the opening of the market. We’re told Florida is keenly interested in the heavyweight.

What do you folks think of that?

Oh, you mean the same Andy Strickland that confirmed the Chris Pronger trade to LA. Yeah, real journalism

Yes, that same Strickland who had the trade made, then changed it to rumor after it was proven false.

If you believe Strickland, then you also believe in the fairy god mother.

Give the guy a break…he blogs on the same site as the clown who puts out this pathetic rumor chart and charges money for it:

Note from Paul.  T.J., if you want to post the rumor chart, fine, but you need to find a better host, it sends off all kinds of bells and whistles for a virus.

So I have deleted the link and will continue to do so unless you change the host.

LOL, Everyone is a convenient skeptic.  Strickland is one of the best sources on the net for rumours.  He his right far more often than anyone else outside of McKenzie/Dreger.

Folks, I didn’t say I believed him. Remember, I used to “blog” for HockeyBuzz and no longer do so that should say something.

I posted this thing because it’s a slow new Rangers news day and I didn’t want you folks to think I was slacking off. That’s all smile

LOL, Everyone is a convenient skeptic.  Strickland is one of the best sources on the net for rumours.  He his right far more often than anyone else outside of McKenzie/Dreger.

Rumors can’t be looked at on wether or not the trade happens. Sometimes teams call each other, say “Hey is player XXX available?” and bam, its a rumor. It is a valid rumor that team a and team b talked, wether or not the deal goes down has nothing to do with the rumor.

The problem with guys like Strickland, Eklund and Garioch is that they make up their rumors. They have no sources. Team a and team b never talked.

So yeah, maybe they strike gold sometimes and a right, and maybe they miss by a longshot, but that isn’t why they’re idiots.

Anyone who runs a rumor site is going to be wrong about upcoming trades, and they’re going to be wrong a lot. Thats why its a rumor.  Even if two teams talk, it doesn’t mean a deal will go down, and in most cases the talks can never be validated.

The only safe way to look at rumors is to know who is reporting them. They’re are very few people who actually have sources, and as far as I’m concerned, I’ll only believe a rumor if its from Spector’s site or McKenzie and Dreger.

But hey, don’t let me stop you. If you want to pay money for Hockeybuzz in order to see some giant loads of crap made up by some random dude named Dwayne, then go right ahead.

For the record, I definitely did not give $$$ to HockeyBuzz, the majority of the site is free content

Schlock or not…Antropov’s a dick and I can see him wanting that kind of money for his crappy play.  Send him packing…someone will pay that for his huge butt in front of the net then try to get rid of him mid-way through the season when they realize he doesn’t really do ANYTHING.
