Game 6 on deck - Thoughts?

In Games 3 and 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Penguins looked like a team to be reckoned with. They were getting scoring from their superstars as well as some of their depth players while allowing their goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to have two stellar games between the pipes.

Back in Detroit for Game 5 however, those Penguins were nowhere to be found. What we did find however was the “real” Detroit Red Wings. You know, the Wings that fire on all cylinders, that get tremendous play from the likes of Henrik Zetterburg, Brian Rafalski, Dan Cleary and of course, Pavel Datsyuk. Datsyuk returned to the lineup last night for the first time since May 19 and promptly had two assists in 17:38 of ice time.

Now, the series once again shifts back to Pittsburgh for Game 6 will there will most certainly be a “white out” and the Wings will have to be ready for a hungry Pens’ hockey club once th puck drops. Remember, the Wings had a 2-0 series lead when the series first shifted to Pittsburgh so they know that no lead is safe, especially when there is a potential Game 7 on the line.

What are your thoughts on this Game 6 match-up? Is Pittsburgh in trouble? Will Detroit be too complacent? Will there be another Cup-raising ceremony at the Mellon Arena? Let’s hear your thoughts!

Since the Pens home jerseys are BLACK, the fans wear white to support every visitor they play? Seems a “black out” would be more appropriate.

I’ve wondered the same thing.

Short of a crystal ball, I don’t think there is anyway to predict the outcome of Game 6.  I think the Wings demonstrated last night that they have plenty of life left and Pav’s return and the home crowd made it soar.  I think the Wings have what it takes to win one of the next two games and hope they will.  I also think the Pens will rally tomorrow but whether they win tomorrow is an open question.

I honestly believe it will be a hard fought game, and it will come down to the final seconds.

champions bounce back.  the Wings did it last night.  can the Penguins do it Tuesday?  if they do not, they are not ready for the Stanley Cup.  the Cup is like some sort of ethereal object from Lord of the Rings or something - only the worthy (physically AND mentally) may hold it.  the playoffs are what test you, to see if you’re worthy.

considering what I saw of the Penguins last night after the game got out of hand, they are not yet ready.  Anaheim clearly is not, and probably never will be.  Chicago is close - I actually think they’re closer than Pittsburgh.  they got out of hand once, like the Penguins, but I think they’ll learn more from it than the Penguins.  I honestly feel like - after reading quotes from Bylsma and other Penguins - that they don’t get it.  they’re just like “whatever, we lost our composure.  it’s no big deal, it happens.”  well, not for champions it doesn’t.  they don’t seem to grasp this.
