He Could Be Right

Scotty over at Scotty Hockey is a HUGE Rangers fan. You may not be able to see that right away in his blogs but this guy does bleed red, white and blue.
Unfortunately, with that comes understanding reality and Scotty appears to be one Blueshirt fan who gets it. In his past couple of blogs, he has mentioned how we, as Ranger fans, are headed for heartbreak because the Blueshirts continue to tease us with their solid play.
In yesterday’s recap blog, he said the following:
Winning is nice and all but it would be in our best long-term interest to lose.
Then, in Friday’s recap blog, he posted the following:
Tonight’s win moved the team within three points of Boston for eighth place in the East. Seeing as Savvy is out for the B’s, it is easy to see the Rangers vaulting them for the final playoff spot. That would be a good thing if this team was built for a real run through the postseason but they are not - the flaws are simply too deep and there are simply too many of them. So the team will get into the playoffs, us fans will overspend for a few extra games only to have the Blueshirts rip our hearts out with another early exit and Dolan will have enough of a result to raise season ticket prices for the fifth straight season. And yet the franchise gets no closer to the final prize, yet again.
I happen to agree with Scotty on this folks. There is definitely a good chance that the team will somehow find a way to sneak into the playoffs but once they get there, they’ll drop right out.
They’ll tease fans with excellent play down the stretch and then bottom out come April. What do you folks think?

Amazing how similar the Leafs and Rangers remain. When there was no cap they spent their way to the bottom of the league and now with a cap they need to lose their way back to the top.

Absolutely I agree. My wife thinks I’m nuts because the ultimate goal is the Cup and you can’t win it unless you’re in it, but this team’s inconsistency is not going to disappear at this late stage. This is what they’ve been and what they will remain until some fundamental changes are made. There’s a lot to like about this team and with the addition of a high pick if we don’t make the PO’s, it will help us much more in the long run than a first round PO exit vs the Caps for the second year in a row.
