Is Captain Drury Hurt or Is He Just Struggling?

Well, according to New York Rangers’ head coach John Tortorella, he is.
Tortorella reported earlier today (view it on the team’s twitter account here) that Chris Drury will not be making the road trip with the team due to the following:
“He has had cranky knee and has progressively gotten worse…gone a few weeks and flared up last night.”
Chris Drury has had one heck of a disappointing season on Broadway this season. He’s been hurt and his play has not been the best since rejoining the lineup.
In my opinion, I think it’s the latter reason that Drury is out of the lineup. The organization and its head coach is trying to diffuse any sort of negativity surrounding the captain and is painting a somewhat rosy picture when in reality, his play has been terrible this season.
Personally, I do not have anything against the way the team and its coach went about it giving the news to the media. Tortorella is simply trying to help his captain.
With that said, however, Drury is clearly struggling and is not doing much to help the hockey club. As such, he deserves to be out of the lineup.

Neither. He’s just garbage.
Everyone knew that the Buffalo system allowed him to thrive offensively.
Before the Sabres, what kind of numbers was he putting up? He played almost exclusively with Sakic or Forsberg when he first broke in the league and he failed to score more than 24 goals in a year with those allstars.
He’s junk and he’s going to be getting a lot of money to continue to be junk.
And his ‘leadership’ qualities have hardly elevated this team to the next level in the playoffs either.
If it weren’t for Wade Redden, he’d be the worst signing since the lockout.
