Islanders: Keep an Open Mind

From Zachary Weinstock at MaxHockey.com:

Team projections on the collection of masochists set to slither into Nassau Coliseum Friday night indicate that at least as many Islander fans are willing to come watch their club draft an NHL talent with one sentence as are willing to come watch their club lose to NHL talent for 60 minutes.

And incase you haven’t heard, the building will be torn to crumbs if the Islanders don’t select John Tavares.

This might not even be a joke. Area lounge R.C. Dugans is offering $1 pints until midnight if the London Knights winger goes first overall. They’ll be 25 cents if he doesn’t!

So either way, it’s a night for George Washington adorned currency.

Honestly, Patrick?  I think the Isles should go for Tavares because let’s face it, scoring puts people in the seats.  While it appears that Victor Hedman has the most potential to be a franchise-type defenseman and would seem to be the logical choice given that Dipietro is a franchise-type keeper (which would thus seem to have in place a solid defensive foundation), it’s the goals that people get excited about.  If Tavares is allowed the offensive freedom to score goals at will, I think he’d make a better choice.

These are some of the dumbest comments written about Islanders fans and why John Tavares should be the pick.  First, Tavares is hands down the consensus best pick in the draft, a prolific goal scorer who would be very welcome on a team that didn’t even have a 20-goal scorer last year.  Islanders fans know this, but idiots like you apparently don’t.

And Islanders fans who won’t buy tickets next year if the team AGAIN messes up yet another draft are “idiots who won’t be missed”?  Speak for yourself you clown.  If they must up this draft, I’ll go if you personally fork over money to pay for my ticket plan.

It all comes down to selecting Daigle or Pronger? Im not saying Tavares is the next Daigle but u never know. i thought Patrik Stefan was suppose to be good but every one know what happend. By the way i was at the game in which he missed on an empty net from 3 feet.

Geez, the youtube video of that gaffe doesn’t do it justice.  The crowd was raucous.
