Just End This Already

From Steve Zipay at Blue Notes:

Well, we all knew it had to happen at some point.

His agent, Kurt Overhardt, had told me last week that there was plenty of time for discussions and he the Post yesterday that indeed, there’s been an adjustment (read lowering) of his one and two-year proposals. The report is that the one-year asking price is $1.1 mil (same as Vinny Prospal, FYI) down from $1.4 and the two year option is over $2 million.

No word yet on Rangers response. Dubinsky, who has been hearing from teammates that he should be in camp, is certainly getting itchy. After Monday, there will only be two exhibition games left.

Click here for more. I don’t know about you folks but I’m not sure who is talking at this point? Is it Dubinsky’s agent that wants more money or is it Dubinsky himself?

Your thoughts?

Rangers are being too cheap, why nitpick over a small amount for one of your future small players.  Cheaping Dubinsky now, will screw them over later.

Based on Tortorella’s comments, my guess is that Dubinsky isn’t handling the negotiation and has been trusting his agent to get a deal done.  Unfortunately that hasn’t left him in good standing, and I suspect that by the end of the weekend this issue will be resolved.

i dont doubt the fact that ATM dubs does not have much leverage in contract negotiations, however, he isn’t asking for a huge amount of money either.  Dubs will eventually have to settle for whatever the rangers are asking for now, but, I wonder how Sather will feel when he trys to sign dubs to a contract in the future.  Dubs will rape him in the future, and he will regret being a cheap ass. It’s not like they cant absorb the raise now.

About Goal Line Report

The Goal Line Report will focus on all things Eastern Conference. Do I have a bias towards the Eastern Conference just because I am a New Yorker? No, but it certainly does make things easier! I’ll make my opinions known on Eastern Conference news bits (as often as I can), big games, hot and cold players, trades (I don’t make things up) and anything and everything else related to the Eastern Conference that I think is important for hockey fans to know. I will, in every sense of the word, be the beast of the East while also making sure to drop my thoughts on other hockey news items.

I, Patrick Hoffman, have covered the NHL since 2003 and have worked for a variety of hockey media sources including: Stan Fischler, Spector’s Hockey, TheHockeyNews.com, HockeyBuzz.com, McKeen’s Hockey, Blueshirt Bulletin, XM Home Ice Channel Hockey Blog, HockeyPrimeTime.com, FantasyHockey.com. NY SportsDay, and HokejaVestnesis.com.
