From Kevin Allen at USA Today:
In the midst of the Tampa Bay Lightning ownership’s very public and messy squabble over control of the team, general manager Brian Lawton has made noise in the free agent marketplace without drawing much notice.
With training camp just around the corner, the Lightning have a new goalie in Antero Niittymaki, a new top-six scorer in Alex Tanguay and the possibility that the team will start the season with four new defensemen.
“Quite frankly, we have tried to operate quietly,” Lawton said. “When you have finished 30th and 29th (over the past two seasons) there’s no reason to draw any attention to yourself.”
