Lundqvist Shines in Blueshirts’ loss to the Penguins

50 saves in a hockey game is pretty remarkable. New York Rangers’ netminder Henrik Lundqvist made 50 saves in last night’s game against the high-octane Pittsburgh Penguins in a 5-4 overtime loss.

The “king” did everything he could to try and get his team two points, making big saves at crucial points, swallowing up rebounds and being in position for second and third shots. However, a suspect performance by the Blueshirts’ defense did the team in and ultimately, cost them a crucial point in the standings.

Yes, it was nice to see guys like Artem Anisimov, Chris Drury, Michal Rozsival and Brandon Dubinsky score but you would have liked to see the team play better defense and get the important win.

I’m busy at work today so I have to keep this short. Let’s see what the team does this weekend in games against the Washington Capitals in Washington tomorrow night and at home against Ryan Miller and the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday night.
