We’ve come to the midway point of the week and unfortunately, not too much to report on when it comes to the Blueshirts.
As of right now, Nikolai Zherdev is headed for arbitration while Brandon Dubinsky remains in limbo. Head coach John Tortorella is a big fan of Dubi and will most likely want to give him a bigger role in the upcoming season. As for Zherdev, that’s a different story. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him skate off on another club this season whether it’s in the NHL or the KHL.

Dubinky didn’t file for arbitration because he can’t. He had some limitations in his contract that unabled him to do so. It has to do with his age and some other things.
I’d expect Dubinsky to be signed after the Zherdev hearing. I think they’re looking to get that done first.

Brandon Dubinsky is not headed for arbitration because he did not choose to file for arbitration. He’s just kind of in limbo, waiting for a contract to be worked out. He obviously wants to stay, so maybe there’s a trade brewing? I surely hope not.
