Not bad

I know it is just three games into the regular season but at 2-1, it is safe to say that the New York Rangers are off to a solid start.

They are getting great play from the likes of Marian Gaborik (he needs to stay healthy), Brandon Dubinsky (still trying to prove he is worth the contract he signed a few weeks ago), Michael Del Zotto (trying to play more than nine games this season), Matt Gilroy (a poor man’s Brian Leetch) and of course, Henrik Lundqvist. These guys have stepped up their games and have helped the Blueshirts in their two victories.

The next game for the Rangers will be a real test as they take on the highly offensive Washington Capitals at the Verizon Center tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Alex Ovechkin has been a monster thus far as he has posted nine points (5g, 4a) in his team’s first three games.

This game will also be a huge test for Rangers’ young defensemen Del Zotto and Gilroy. While both have stepped up when it comes to offense, their defensive games still need some work and what better way to do that then play against players such as Ovechkin, Alexander Semin, Nicklas Backstrom, Mike Knuble, Mike Green and more.

I’ll be back either later today or sometime tomorrow but for now, I would like to hear your thoughts on the team thus far. Who do you think is playing well? Who do you think has been a disappointment? Who has been a pleasant surprise? What does the team need to do in order to compete against the Capitals tomorrow night?

Let’s hear ‘em!

I like how this team looks so far. We’ve got some good speed, a young defensive core that looks promising, Lundqvist looks like he’s on top of things.

One of the beauty’s of having Marian Gaborik I’ve noticed is the load it takes off his linemates. So much of the focus goes to Gaborik at times that it’s given other guys on the ice plenty of time to make their play. Dubinsky is real benefiting from it tremendously.
