Rangers’ Cap Outlook

This may be an old post (Saturday, August 22) but for you Ranger fans that are worried about the cap, check out the below from PuckCentral.net:

The Rangers have over $6.8M in cap space to fill the remaining three spots in their lineup and carry at least one extra roster player. Matt Gilroy is one of the favorites to make the team on defense ($1.75M). Corey Potter, Bobby Sanguinetti, Mike Sauer and Ilkka Heikkinen are all other possible rookies (all less than $1M cap hit). Will Sather also add a veteran to the blue line, like has been rumored over the past couple of weeks?

FYI: nhlnumbers.com has Rangers t $49M for 15 players (9 forwards, 4 defensemen, 2 goalies). Doesn’t include Arnason ($700K), Lisin ($900K) or Gilroy ($1.75M on one-way deal), not to mention Dubinsky. Not nearly as rosy a picture as this story paints, unless the Great Sather is planning on Hartfordizing a couple of people.

Also FYI: site has Rangers at $42M for 10 players for 10-11.

About Goal Line Report

The Goal Line Report will focus on all things Eastern Conference. Do I have a bias towards the Eastern Conference just because I am a New Yorker? No, but it certainly does make things easier! I’ll make my opinions known on Eastern Conference news bits (as often as I can), big games, hot and cold players, trades (I don’t make things up) and anything and everything else related to the Eastern Conference that I think is important for hockey fans to know. I will, in every sense of the word, be the beast of the East while also making sure to drop my thoughts on other hockey news items.

I, Patrick Hoffman, have covered the NHL since 2003 and have worked for a variety of hockey media sources including: Stan Fischler, Spector’s Hockey, TheHockeyNews.com, HockeyBuzz.com, McKeen’s Hockey, Blueshirt Bulletin, XM Home Ice Channel Hockey Blog, HockeyPrimeTime.com, FantasyHockey.com. NY SportsDay, and HokejaVestnesis.com.
