Rangers Look To Keep Capitals’ Offense in Check

Everyone knows what the Washington Capitals are going to come at you with: lots of offense, lots of shots, solid special teams and more often than not, two points at the end of the hockey game.
Tonight, the New York Rangers will try stymie the Caps’ offense at Madison Square Garden when the two clubs go at it at 7:30 p.m. For the Blueshirts, it’s going to take a huge team defensive effort to win this hockey game. They’ll have to do everything they can to allow their goaltender Henrik Lundqvist to see the puckm force the Caps’ to shoot from the outside and not put themselves in a vulnerable position by taking penalties.
With that said, however, the team will also obviously need to put the puck in the net. As Blueshirts’ head coach John Tortorella pointed out on Sunday night after the team’s 2-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues, when opposing teams are able to stop the line of Brandon Dubinsky-Artem Anisimov-Ryan Callahan, then they could go on and win the hockey game.
As such, especially tonight, the team will need to come out firing on all cylinders and do everything they can to score the game’s first goal. If they are able to accomplish that, they’ll most likely go into defensive mode and focus on keeping the Caps’ at bay. Remember, the Caps’ boast offensive talents Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, Alexander Semin, Mike Green, John Carlson, and even Brooks Laich.
Yes, that could make for some boring hockey but a win is a win, right?
