I hate to use sour grapes but in this case it’s necessary. The officiating in the Ranger-Caps series was abysmal. The non-call that took the cake was Brashear’s hit Betts. I think my screaming at the TV set must have shattered a few glasses. How could the two refs and two linesmen not see that elbow come up. I’ve seen 5 minute majors and game misconducts called for less. It also seems to me that when Avery blinks a penalty is called but when the opposition holds, slashes or trips him, the zebras turn a blind eye. A player’s rep shouldn’t keep penalties from being called. Finally, my dissatisfaction with Slats is monumental. He doesn’t go out and scout prospects like other GM’s do leaving it to scouts. He also paid huge dollars to 60 point players while letting 100+ players pass. Where is the logic in this? If not for Hendrik we would have lost another 20 games. Is this a sign of things to come in 2010? Well, I’ve vented and I’ll settle for next year’s season.
