From good friend of the blog Brian Monzo at WFAN.com:
It’s really hard to see the Rangers finding a way to make a run based on their play. They have lost four games in a row but don’t have a overly brutal schedule. They still play the Thrashers and have two more games against the Islanders and Maple Leafs. That being said, they play the Flyers three times and the Devils once more.
If the Rangers have any chance of getting into the playoffs, it is going to up the Lundqvist. They are going to need to win 12 of 15 games, which is a tough thing to do no matter who is on the schedule. Coach John Tortorella will need to get 12 games out of Lundqvist and play Auld against the Leafs and Islanders and hope the Olympics didn’t wipe out his number one netminder.
Players like Olli Jokinen and Vinny Prospal are going to have to play even better than they have been (not to mention they are playing for contracts next season). The young guns, Brandon Dubinsky and Ryan Callahan, are going to have to step up and Chris Drury, the captain and NHL leader in blocked shots is going to have to do add the offense that has been missing for most of the season.
