Goal Line Report
What gives?

It appears that through the first two games against the Washington Capitals, the New York Rangers’ offense has gone missing.
This was especially apparent in the team’s 2-0 shutout loss last night in Washington. The team did not generate enough offense and did not put enough quality shots on Capitals’ netminder Michal Neuvirth.
On the other hand, the team did some good things defensively. The team’s defensive play allowed them to stay in the hockey game and give themselves a chance to win.
Unfortunately, the offense did not keep up their end of the bargain and ended up costing the team the hockey game. Something has to give right?
Well, something better as the team now finds itself in an 0-2 hole. The 1996 Rangers were down 0-2 to the Montreal Canadiens and managed to win the series 4-2. With that said, the team had a heckuva lot more offense than this current Rangers’ squad has now.
Rangers’ head coach John Tortorella has tried tinkering with the lines. That hasn’t worked. Him and assistant coach Mike Sullivan have tried implementing different strategies. That hasn’t worked either.
So what gives? Come tomorrow afternoon at Madison Square Garden, it better be the Rangers’ offense that is giving or they could be on their way home for the off-season.
