What’s the Hold Up?

New York Ranger fans are not going to like this as Steve Zipay reports the following on Brandon Dubinsky at Blue Notes:
Barring a very unlikely 11th-hour change of heart by Rangers general manager Glen Sather, unsigned center Brandon Dubinsky won’t report on the first day of training camp Saturday.
Despite face-to-face talks with agent Kurt Overhardt in the past two days, the sides have failed to agree on a deal for Dubinsky, 23, a restricted free agent who earned $475,000 in base salary last season plus an $160,000 signing bonus. He did not accept a one-year, $522,000 qualifying offer from the club.
“We met with Glen again this morning and couldn’t reach an accord,” Overhardt told Newsday late this afternoon. “He really wants to to play here, but we’re in a holding pattern.” He said that “unless the Rangers call, it’s status quo. Our expectations are not great.”
A holdout---which Dubinsky believed would not happen earlier in the week--- means the Alaska native who scored 27 goals and added 54 assists in 170 games for the Rangers, will train elsewhere. He had been training at the team’s complex for about three weeks.

About Goal Line Report
The Goal Line Report will focus on all things Eastern Conference. Do I have a bias towards the Eastern Conference just because I am a New Yorker? No, but it certainly does make things easier! I’ll make my opinions known on Eastern Conference news bits (as often as I can), big games, hot and cold players, trades (I don’t make things up) and anything and everything else related to the Eastern Conference that I think is important for hockey fans to know. I will, in every sense of the word, be the beast of the East while also making sure to drop my thoughts on other hockey news items.
I, Patrick Hoffman, have covered the NHL since 2003 and have worked for a variety of hockey media sources including: Stan Fischler, Spector’s Hockey, TheHockeyNews.com, HockeyBuzz.com, McKeen’s Hockey, Blueshirt Bulletin, XM Home Ice Channel Hockey Blog, HockeyPrimeTime.com, FantasyHockey.com. NY SportsDay, and HokejaVestnesis.com.
