Why Can’t He Play Like That Every Game?

When the New York Rangers signed Chris Drury in the summer of 2007, many fans were expecting Drury to go out there and be an offensive machine. Considering the fact that he scored 37 goals the season before with the Buffalo Sabres, it’s easy to see why blueshirt fans would think that way.
However, Drury is not an offensive machine. Rather, he’s someone that goes hard to the net, puts pucks to the net, plays solid defensively and more importantly, scores big goals.
Drury did exactly that last night as the Rangers beat the Montreal Canadiens by a score of 3-1 at Madison Square Garden. The win gives the blueshirts a chance to clinch a playoff spot tomorrow night when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers.
In the head coach John Tortorella’s post game press conference, Tortorella said that after Drury scored his first goal of the game, he played with confidence, which enabled him to get better and better as the game went along.
Hopefully, this confidence will carry over into tomorrow night’s game as the team is going to need him at his very best if they want to get into the playoffs. And if the team does end up clinching a spot, they will need captain Drury to play exactly like he did last night.
