In what has been an extremely busy offseason in the NHL, NHL.com’s deputy managing editor, Adam Kimelman, was kind enough to take some time to tell us about how he got into hockey, how he became a hockey writer, and how he got a gig with NHL.com.
PH: How did you get into hockey?
AK: During the 1989 playoffs, one of the kids in my Hebrew school class brought a 5-inch Sony Watchman to class so he could watch Flyers-Penguins playoff series. I got into the game, and was even more into it seeing how excited everyone around me was getting. Then not long after came Lindros, and after that I was hooked.
PH: Growing up, who was your favorite team and player? Why?
AK: The Flyers, based on geography—growing up in South Jersey, they were the team closest to me. Favorite player probably was Lindros, because when I was really getting into hockey, he was just so dominant.
