Team USA to win Medal with Goaltending?

From Sean Leahy at Puck Daddy:
For 2010, USA Hockey will have its deepest goaltending trio between Ryan Miller, Tim Thomas and Craig Anderson, who stamped his place on the roster with a red hot month of October. The battle now for the next three and a half months will be about which one will watch from the press box at GM Place and which two will dress.
Coming into this season the debate was between Miller and Thomas for the No. 1 job; but if Anderson continues to carry the Colorado Avalanche, how can his place in the argument be denied?

Puck Daddy’s Thoughts on Team Canada’s Omissions

From Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy:
As this point, your heart just goes out to Steven Stamkos(notes). The No. 1 overall pick in 2008 for the Tampa Bay Lightning, the kid battled through absurd expectations placed on him through offseason marketing—and his own struggles—in a season that saw him earn just three third-place sympathy votes for the Calder.
But he played better as the year wore on, and played very well for Team Canada in the 2009 world championships. Olympic hockey analyst Pierre McGuire thought his international experience might be enough to earn Stamkos a roster spot for Team Canada in the 2010 Winter Games.

Obsessing over Dany Heatley

From Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy:
Dany Heatley’s representation has made a few things clear about his trade request to the Ottawa Senators, as reported by Wayne Scanlon of Canwest: That ice time and a “significant role” on a team are pretty important thing for him; that a rift with head coach Cory Clouston is one of, if not the primary, motivations for his request; and that he’s done with the Senators, and there’s no turning back.

Puck Daddy’s Take on Detroit’s Problems

From Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy:
The notion that the reigning Stanley Cup champions lost their composure in Thursday night’s 4-2 Game 4 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins wasn’t debatable, at least among the players. The debate came when trying to assess how rattled the Detroit Red Wings truly were as the Finals were knotted up 2-2.
Like, for example, the gossip in the postgame interviews that the Big Red Wing Machine was bickering on the ice; an assertion denied by both coach Mike Babcock and captain Nicklas Lidstrom

Players Who Need to Continue to Roll
by Patrick Hoffman on 04/30/09 at 12:00 PM ET

In his Puck Daddy blog this morning, Greg Wyshynski blogs about eight guys who need to step up in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs since they failed to do so in the first round.
With that in mind, which eight players need to continue rolling in order to help their team advance to the conference finals?
Let’s hear your thoughts!

We all know what happened regarding the NHL’s suspensions of a few Detroit Red Wings’ skaters due to skipping out on the All-Star game.
However, Greg Wyshynski of Yahoo’s Puck Daddy Blog wrote a great blog on why marketing our sport and the National Hockey League is more important than having a few Wings’ players suspended for a game.
Check it out here!
