Seguin Is The Man in Boston Right Now

It is very rare that a 19-year old NHLer has a tremendous impact in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the most important time of the hockey season.
However, one such youngster that has bucked the trend is Boston Bruins’ forward and rookie Tyler Seguin. Seguin, who was a healthy scratch during the first two rounds of this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, was inserted into the lineup by Bruins’ head coach Claude Julien in Game 1 and things haven’t been the same since.
Seguin has come out and has been confident, shown his speed, a knack for having the puck on his stick and an ability to produce points. Everyone in the hockey world has known that Seguin can be like this but many pundits figured it would take some time for it to come to fruition.
It certainly showed in last night’s 6-5 Bruins’ victory in Game 2 when Seguin had 2 goals and 2 assists, all in the second period. On the first goal, Seguin showed tremendous speed in getting through the neutral zone and around two defenseman to then beat Lightning netminder Dwayne Roloson with a backhand.

Nice to See Some Scoring

As I am sure many of you folks are, I am watching Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning and it’s great to see some scoring, isn’t it?
Many pundits and fans alike predicted that because of the goaltending and defensive systems, this was going to be a low scoring series. Well, here we are at the end of the first period and it is 3-1 Lightning at the end of the first period in Boston.
Tim Thomas, although he cannot be faulted for all three of the goals, has not looked comfortable in between the pipes for the Bruins thus far so it’ll be interesting to see how he plays in the second period. On the other end, while Tyler Seguin’s goal, his first career NHL playoff goal in his first career NHL playoff game, was a beauty, it was a shot that Lightning goaltender Dwayne Roloson might have been able to stop.
These teams both have guys that can put the puck in the net and both have guys that will go hard to the net for deflections, rebounds and loose pucks. The Lightning certainly showed that in the first period.
The puck, no matter how good Thomas and Roloson, will go in the net plenty of times this series. You’ll see.
