Silfverberg Could Make His Ottawa Debut Tonight

from Ken Warren of the Ottawa Citizen,

Jakob Silfverberg was certainly made to feel at home at Scotiabank Place early Monday.

First off, his Ottawa Senators teammates allowed him to lead them in their on-ice stretches before the morning skate.

When the practice ended, a few Swedish journalists then took centre stage at coach Paul MacLean’s morning press conference, aggressively querying MacLean on what he expected from the talented 21-year-old Swedish prospect and whether he would jump immediately into the fire of an NHL playoff series after capturing a Swedish Elite League title.

“You guys could probably tell me better,” MacLean answered back, pointing out that Silfverberg won the most valuable player in the SEL in both the regular season and playoffs, winning the league title on Thursday with Brynas….

Before Monday, MacLean hadn’t even seen Silfverberg since the Senators development camp in the summer, but the coach was thinking long and hard about throwing him immediately into the fire against the Rangers.

Alfredsson Skates Again Today, Hopes To Play Tomorrow

from Rob Brodie of the Senators website,

In the wake of a 2-0 victory on Saturday night in New York, the eight-seeded Senators lead the best-of-seven affair 3-2 and can oust the conference’s top regular-season team — 17 points better than the Senators in the final standings, we hasten to add — with one more victory in front of what should be another raucous sellout crowd at Scotiabank Place.

Alfredsson, who’s missed the last three games after suffering a concussion in Game 2 — courtesy of an elbow to the head by the Rangers’ Carl Hagelin — would dearly love to be a part of it all, though he’s not quite ready to make that decision just yet.

“Today is another step and it’s been a good couple of days,” said the 39-year-old captain, who hit the ice Saturday for the first time in five days. “I’m going to wait until tomorrow but the way the last two days have felt, I’m encouraged.”
