from Frank Seravalli of Frequent Flyers,
Defenseman Nick Grossmann missed Thursday’s practice.
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said that Grossmann suffered an “upper-body” injury in Game 4 against Pittsburgh. He is officially listed as “day-to-day.”
Grossmann left the game in the second period after taking an elbow to the head from Evgeni Malkin. NBC 10’s Howard Eskin is reporting Grossmann suffered a concussion. The Flyers had no comment on the report.

Forget The Can, Will The Penguins Win Their Next Thee Games?
by Paul on 04/19/12 at 10:08 AM ET

from Nicholas J. Cotsonika of Yahoo,
Can they do it? Yeah, they can do it. The Pittsburgh Penguins are good enough, the Philadelphia Flyers are vulnerable enough and this series has been crazy enough, that’s for sure. It’s been the highest-scoring series through four games in NHL history, featuring 45 goals, one more than the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers produced back in 1985.
But unless the Penguins do it, unless they become the fourth NHL team to come back from 3-0 deficit and win a best-of-7 series, Wednesday night’s 10-3 victory won’t be remembered as a display of defiant pride. It will be remembered as a display of what all these Penguins could have been, of all that slipped away.
The Penguins’ stars looked like stars. The Flyers’ goaltenders looked like, well, Flyers goaltenders. It turned into a rout, and an electric building lost its power.

Fire Bylsma? Don’t Even Think About It
by Paul on 04/18/12 at 11:01 AM ET

from Gene Collier of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette,
On the day it started, exactly one week ago, I thought the Penguins-Flyers series would be lengthy, nasty, and as likely to be won by Philadelphia as not.
I still think all those things, for what it’s worth, and take no satisfaction from the Meatloafian two-out-of-three already established. I expect the Penguins will get to their feet tonight and begin a win streak of two, three, maybe even four games, and if that looks foolish before 11 o’clock, well, it won’t be my first time.
Also on the day it started, also one week ago, you couldn’t find anyone who suspected the Penguins were short-handed behind the bench, from where Dan Bylsma had directed more playoff victories than any coach in the history of the franchise.
One week ago, the Penguins had no serious problems, few marginal problems, and zero problems that could be traced to within 10 logical miles of Bylsma.
So look, it’s obviously too late for any essay that could earn a two-word summary like “remain calm,” but this “Fire Bylsma” reaction to a week of frequent Flyer losses is deserving of a summary condemnation.

When Should The Words Stop?

This video has been out for some time, but I am posting it below just to get your opinion.
The video is the Crosby scrum from Sunday but my attention is drawn to the words of former NHL defenseman Chris Therien, color commentator on Philadelphia Flyers radio broadcasts on Sports Radio 94 WIP.
“Punch him in the face as hard as you can” and “Crosby is an absolute joke” are a few of the phrases Therien used to describe what was going on.
Did Therien cross the line or are you ok with what he said.

The N.H.L. needs a healthy Crosby on the ice, scoring goals—not in the penalty box, or unable to play—if it is to thrive. It needs him to be one of the faces of the league. Instead, he is a symbol of all that plagues it.

via NHL.com,
Pittsburgh forward James Neal will have hearings on Tuesday with the Department of Player Safety for two separate incidents in Sunday’s Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Also, Pittsburgh forward Arron Asham has been offered an in-person hearing Tuesday morning for his match penalty for cross-checking Brayden Schenn at 14:15 of the first period. Asham received a match penalty on the hit.
Neal’s hearings focus on the hit against Sean Couturier in the third period, as well as the charging penalty he received for a hit on Claude Giroux later in the period. Neal was not penalized on the Couturier hit.
