Watching the RDO Camp

The NHL Network-U.S. will be broadcasting TSN’s popular “That’s Hockey” program from the Research, Development and Orientation Camp in Etobicoke, Ont., on Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.
Hosted by Gino Reda, “That’s Hockey” features a panel of hockey experts bringing fans up to date on the latest NHL news through analysis and one-on-one interviews.
The NHL reintroduced the RDO Camp last summer after first holding it in 2005. Many of the rule changes that were tested last season, including some faceoff variations, switching ends after regulation, hybrid icing and no-touch icing, will again be on display this year for further analysis.
There are several new additions to the agenda this time, including the elimination of the trapezoid that limits where goalies can play the puck behind the net to a confined area.

A New Face At The NHL Network?

Bruins studio anchor Kathryn Tappen is expected to depart for the NHL Network in the next couple of weeks; according to an industry source, former Bruins play-by-play voice Dale Arnold is a candidate to replace her.

Re-Live the 2011 Playoffs

History was made. Now it’s time for fans to re-live every shot, save and overtime winner one more time.
All summer long, NHL Network will be replaying the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs—from every jaw-dropping goal to every highlight-reel save to every crushing defeat.
Each game of the postseason—spanning the more than two-month period from the opening round to Boston’s Game 7 clincher of the Stanley Cup Final—will be shown on the Network throughout the offseason.
Every game will be shown on the NHL Network at 8pm ET nightly, starting today.

NHL Awards & Red Carpet—Open Post

While two of the most recognizable faces in the NHL won’t be in attendance, many more will indeed be at the show at the Palms Casino and Resort today, flashing their best threads on the Red Carpet. So we’ll finally know who has the cleanest post-playoff shave, the hottest girlfriend, the whitest teeth (or, rather, any teeth)... etc. Important stuff.
The Red Carpet Show runs from 5-7pm ET on NHL Network. The NHL Awards broadcast itself starts at 7pm ET on Versus and some CBC stations. (For Canadians out west, the awards broadcast is time-delayed, but you can watch them live on CBC.ca).

NHL Awards Show Coverage

NEW YORK (June 20, 2011) – NHL Network™ and NHL.com will provide comprehensive coverage of the season’s final event this week when NHL® stars gather in Las Vegas for the 2011 NHL Awards. NHL Network will carry four hours of live programming on Wednesday, June 22, while NHL.com will deploy a team of writers and videographers to cover the event and each Award winner.

Boston’s Stanley Cup Parade to be on NHL Network

NEW YORK (June 17, 2011) – On Wednesday night the Boston Bruins captured their sixth Stanley Cup since joining the NHL in 1924-25 and their first championship since 1972. With all the hard work over, it’s time for the team to celebrate their Stanley Cup victory with the entire New England region.
On Saturday, June 18, beginning at 10 a.m. ET, NHL Network™ will telecast New England Sports Network’s live HD coverage of the Bruins’ Stanley Cup victory parade and rally as players and team management salute their fans from TD Garden to Copley Plaza in downtown Boston. The broadcast will be blacked out in Boston where local fans can tune in to watch the event unfold on NESN. NHL.com will also stream the parade events live beginning at 10 a.m. ET.
For fans who might have missed it the first time around, NHL Network will show an encore presentation of the parade at 1 p.m. ET, immediately following the live broadcast.

NHL Network – NHL On The Fly
For both U.S. and Canadian audiences, NHL Network will begin its Stanley Cup Final coverage on Tuesday, May 31, at 4 p.m. ET with four-hours of programming from Vancouver, NHL On The Fly™ at the Stanley Cup Final: Media Day. Live from the concourse of Rogers Arena, NHL Media Day will give fans a first taste of the playoff excitement as reporters talk with players, coaches and team management from the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins. Together with players, special guests – including the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy—will also join the set for Media Day festivities.

NHL Live- What Do You Think?

It has been a couple weeks since NHL Live switched to the 4:00pm ET hour on the NHL Network and to be truthful, I haven’t been able to watch as much as when it was on at noon.
I also think the new background in the studio makes it look too small and both E.J. and Deb look trapped.
Basically the show has become a recap of what went on last night and also a preview of the games scheduled later in the day.

NHL Network Gets Makeover for Playoffs

[Mark] Preisler was hired in January from ESPN, where he won two Emmy Awards for his work on SportsCenter, to be the NHL Network’s executive producer in the U.S. When the playoffs start next week, hockey fans will see his influence in full force. There are big changes coming at the network in time for the playoffs:
• On April 13, NHL Live moves to 4:00-6:00 p.m., from its current 12:00-2:00 p.m. time slot, and will serve as a live preview show of all the NHL playoff games each night.
• Current NHL players, whose teams aren’t in the playoffs, will be used as analysts, offering fresh takes from guys who have just played against the teams competing, rather than someone decades removed from action.
• Upgrades in graphics, including a new one-line ticker that will continue throughout commercials.
• More live spots from the arenas, using local reporters, NHL.com writers or the players themselves to stay on top of news.
