[Culture] is probably the most important thing,” said Martin, a former coach of the Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers. “To me, the system and everything else is secondary. The way we want to play is going to require consistency and effort. … You look at a team like Detroit, the reason they’re so successful is their work ethic, and their support and commitment to each other.”
After two weeks of training camp, is he getting there?
“Yeah. Slowly,” he said.
It’s a shift that reaches from the ownership suite to the weight room, which Martin has seen before, to a different degree.
