Custance: ...We’ve been doing those team-by-team trade deadline previews on Insider and the consistent message I’ve heard from buying GMs is that there’s nothing available. If this wasn’t a family website, I could put Brian Burke’s exact words right here. Holland was the first one to say that maybe we’re seeing a thawing of the market this week. “There’s a little more chatter the last few days than there has been because the deadline is coming,” he said. “We’re going to explore.”
LeBrun: One GM told me Tuesday that suddenly his phone is blowing up after being dead quiet last week. So yes, the calendar is at play here.
